MEET OUR FACULTY

Stephanie Zlockie

Owner, Director

Head Coach, Elite Competition Team

Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Acrobatics, Pointe

Stephanie Zlockie began dancing at the age of four and has been at it ever since. In 1990, her mother, Nancy, opened On Your Toes Dance Studio where Stephanie continued studying dance and participated in numerous dance competitions such as Tremaine, NYCDA, Hoctor’s Dance Caravan, Showstoppers, and Florida Dance Masters, taking home top awards with her team and as a soloist. In 1996, she was awarded the prestigious Edith and Bill Royal Memorial Scholarship for placing first overall in the Florida Dance Masters Scholarship Competition.

Post high school, Stephanie attended the University of Florida, where she graduated with Honors with a BFA in Communications. She continued studying dance while at UF and was a part of Floridance and The Florida MOD Project, under the directorship of Kelly Cawthon.  While dancing at UF, she had the privilege of studying and performing with guest artists in residence including Merce Cunningham Company, Shapiro and Smith, and ODC San Francisco to name a few, and studied every summer at Broadway Dance Center and Peridance in New York City. While in Gainesville, Stephanie also worked, teaching Jazz and Acrobatics at Pofahl Studios, home of Dance Alive National Ballet.

After graduating, Stephanie came home to continue teaching dance at On Your Toes, and founded OYT’s competition and performance team, Elite Dance of the Keys, Inc, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing and supporting the education of dance in the Florida Keys. Stephanie tested and became a certified dance instructor through Florida Dance Masters in 2001. In 2015, she became a board member of the organization, served as President from 2019-2022, and is the current Past President of the organization. In addition to teaching dance, Stephanie and her family can be seen in commercial and print work for Pursuit Boats, Boston Whaler, Mako, Honda Outboard, Hydrosport, World Cat, Sea Doo, and many others.

Stephanie prides herself in training young dancers to find confidence not just in their dancing, but in themselves, and emphasizes the importance of hard work to achieve goals.  Many of Stephanie’s students have gone on to dance at the collegiate and professional level, even opening studios of their own. Her most prideful accomplishment is her marriage of 21 years to her husband, Bobby, and their two outstanding children, Brookelyn and Isla, who are already creating amazing academic and dance resumes of their own.
